Hey Purdy Lady,I need you to talk me down from wanting to choose carrera marble for my kitchen counters! Not sure what's happened, but I keep seeing carrera in more and more kitchens lately and I like the look!! Granted, most are from the t.v. shows Selling L.A. and Selling New York where people have spectacular kitchens but use them only as museums. (I think I even heard crickets, saw cobwebs on the professional range, and spied a little tumble weed rolling through the kitchen in one of the episodes featuring a 4 million dollar home.) You get the idea. Anyway, I'm well aware of the negatives regarding carrera/marbles in general- for God sakes I was in the industry!! But I don't know if I want to go with ho-hum "safe" suburban granite like every other kitchen around here! Will I hate it? What about resale down the road?? I'm not even sure who I am anymore. Thoughts??xoxoxo-HP.S. We are knocking down the wall between the kitchen and diningroom, going with espresso colored (almost black) cabinets, and continuing the medium brown color hardwood floors through the kitchen for a cohesive look, stainless appliances, and will have a kitchen island which I'm still trying to decide if I want it the same color as the cabinets. I don't want a solid color counter...would like something with interesting with movement (like marble! there I go again...) and I think it should be on the lighter side considering the dark I've got going on.
Love the contemporary look here!!
Fantastic carved drainboard!
Cute and shiny, maybe a little dated- I'd nix those bar stools!
Timeless!
This is somewhat her idea- dark and light, classic!

Finally a local (more local than Tempe, AZ or Sweden) where you can get a Highschool biology lab inspired kitchen island.. Phew!
For those if us who are organizationally challenged this hide- and- go seek pantry with all it's containers is dazzling!
We have a client who needs the cost effective ikea kitchen but who will be able to outfit all his vanities in the same cabinetry as well! Ikea to the rescue! Warm and modern, doncha think?
Great piece! Not just an island this would look great in a show room, bedroom, walk-in closet, art room, studio space....I could list the possibilities all day long!
A virtual plethora of glass door options....

My latest creation with "100 Cameras in 1".
When I'm not writing, designing, playing with my iPhone, mothering, wifing, hiking, traveling, reading, or gazing at my navel.... I love to can! Almost 40 jars of salsa yesterday with my friend Steph! She's such a spice girl.
I love the look of a full pantry with bright beautifully preserved summer bounty!
Mountain modern at it's best!
I especially love the grey siding
And the rich cabinetry and trim color.
Steps from the slopes!
